With the development of embedded and network technology, embedded systems, inwhich the network technology is applied, appear and become the dominant in thecontrol field replacing the application of PC. As an important part of the system ofvideo compression and storage, the design of embedded network video server is basedon the integration of the technology of embedded, network and video service.The paper describes the hardware and software design and realization of theembedded network video server. The core of the hardware platform of the embeddednetwork video server is ADSP-BF537which is an embedded processor, supplementedby a10M/100M adaptive physical layer network chip. The software design of theembedded network video server is based on VDK+LWIP. With the socket programming,the embedded network video server can communicate with network video serviceterminal arrays, manage and control computer and FTP client through the network.Meanwhile the high-speed Parallel Peripheral Interface (PPI) can be used to transmitvideo data and the low-speed UART can be used to complete the control and statusinformation interaction between the embedded network video server and the videostorage arrays. In software design, the multi-threaded technology can be used rationallyto complete the functions of receiving and distributing the network video data of sevenroads simultaneously, FTP services and so on. Finally the paper presents the test resultsof the embedded network video server, which prove that the design fully meets thedesign requirements.The system has passed the test and inspection organized by the users, and will beturned over to the users.
