With the development of Internet technology and multimedia application,embedded network video applications which are supported both by embedded system technology and Web application technology have been widely applied. Because of the heavy load of server and difficult interaction between browser and server in traditional Web applications, as well as the resource constraints in embedded system, technologies of embedded network video applications based on Web are worthy of researching and exploring.In order to solve the problem of low code reusability as well as development and extension difficulty of traditional embedded Web applications, this thesis designs and implements an implementation framework of embedded network video application based on CGI and Ajax. The video configuring and PTZ controlling functions are designed and implemented by using network communication mechanisms combining with video player and PTZ interfaces. The functions of monitoring exceptions on server are designed and implemented by using asynchronous communication mechanism combined with the timer techniques. To realize the programmable functions of network video applications, two solutions are proposed and implemented, one is interface extracted of the service applications which is used to support the mixed calls of both B/S mode and C/S mode, another is the customization of web services in embedded system.Function testing, robustness testing as well as performance testing are performed for this network video application system, the test results show that functions of video configuring and PTZ controlling are correct and in line with users'needs. System is robust to handle the abnormal operations of users and networks. By using the tools WAS and soapUI, multi-user testing the performance of the embedded server is simulated. The results show that response is fast and no error occurred, which validate that the system performance can satisfy customer requirements.
