Research On Electronic Manufacturing PDM

With the economic strategic’s transformation in China, Chinese Dsign and ChineseInnovation has become synonymous for Chinese enterprises. Assess the situation，FGroup has shifted the strategy with global partner from OEM to ODM and IDM, whichinvolved in the research of product innovation for these brand customers. Thecompetition is focus on the rapid response. The key to rapid response is the effective useof product information resources, better implementation of the module reuse, theimplementation of parallel design, the implementation of synchronous manufacturing. Itis under the context of market demand, product data management (Product DataManagement referred to as PDM) system has been an important research topic toChinese manufacturing enterprises.Main purpose of the paper is to develop the second-gneration PDM to thethird-generation. The system realizes PLM-Centric management for developmentprocess, management part number coding, structured BOM management, productconfiguration and change management, version control, group parts management anddata integration. Firstly, this paper describes the research background and significanceof PDM, then introduced the project’s overall architecture design, software andhardware platform, Java object-oriented development and the key communicationstechnology-Info*Engine; Finally, a detail statement is given for the database design andthe system implementation then system testing.This system has been put into use for over one year in PC Division (includingoverseas plants) and achieved good results.
