Central heat-supply is the primary heating form in north region in winter, which has been developed for more than ten year. However, the heat-supply network monitoring system has been applied for several years. There are many problems in its application, especially in the cooperation of the communication mode.Based on the practical needs of the heat-supply network monitoring system, a new design scheme of the system is given to solve the problems in this thesis. Heat-supply network monitoring system is divided into three parts, field monitoring and controlling layer、network communication layer and dispatching center layer. In the new design scheme, the second and the last parts are emphasized.Firstly, the hardware and software of the communication control unit is designed. In hardware, the Hollysys PLC is adopted in order to improve data processing speed. In software, the cooperation mode of the polling and alarming is given to reduce the data flow and alleviate the operating pressure of the monitoring system.Secondly, TCP/IP protocol stack is the base of the GPRS. In order to meet requirements of heat-supply system, study the GPRS network.Through the application of PLC remote communication based on the GPRS technology in the urban heating network, the accuracy of the data collected by the heating companies is substantially improved to save staff costs and improve the economic benefit of enterprises. It will promote the GPRS technology more widely used in other areas of industrial sectors.
