In the highway lighting system, LED lights play an import role in reducing energyconsumption. LED streetlights have advantages of quick response, and low voltagecontrol, and frequent switch will not shorten the life of LED. These advantages providenew thoughts for the selection of light and control methods. This paper designs a newtype of intelligent lighting control system, and realizes streetlight sensing control andwireless remote monitoring.The hardware platform of the LED streetlight intelligent control system uses TI’sCC2430chip as the main controller, the Doppler radar HB100module as the microwavesensor, and the Zigbee protocol stack as the communication protocol combined with theTI’s ZStack. The system consists mainly of two parts,a light control terminal and amonitoring center. Streelight control nodes light the lamps according to the datacollected by the microwave module, and the vehicle arrival information is transmitted tothe adjacent nodes so as to light the lamps in advance. Periodic data are gathered to thecenter node through multi-hop relay mode, and are transmitted to the PC monitoringinterface through the RS-232serial port.In this paper, ZigBee specification, ZigBee network protocol layers and Dopplervelocity-measuring principle are analyzed. Based on the system demand, the hardwareand software of the LED intelligent streetlight control nodes are designed andimplemented, and monitoring interface on the PC is designed as well in accordance withthe demand for monitoring and management. In the simulation environment of passingvehicles and pedestrians for system testing and debugging, the LED intelligent controlsystem can accomplish the tasks of self-testing, lamp lighting, wireless transmission,and data receiving by the monitoring center. The system meets the design requirements.The LED streetlight control system designed in the paper uses microwave sensortechnology and ZigBee wireless networking technology. The application of these newtechnologies to traditional fields, is a supplement to the existing light controltechnologies, and thus is of good applicable value.
