With the development of sensor technology, Micro-Electro-Mechanical-System (MEMs), modern network and wireless communication technology, wireless sensor network(WSN) has gathered people's attention and become a hotspot for research. The research on WSN has been concentrating primarily on some independent algorithms, such as MAC algorithms, routing algorithms, location algorithms, data fusion algorithms and etc. But the whole solution scheme of WSN had not been standardized for a long time. The appearance of IEEE802.15.4/ZigBee protocol not only breaks the deadlock, but also provides a wireless interconnection standard for industrial control, household automation control, telemeter&telecontrol and so on, and at the same time offers chances for the development and application of related industries.Firstly, IEEE802.15.4/ZigBee protocol is analyzed deeply in the thesis, especially in the ZigBee network formation and routing algorithms. Routing algorithm selection method based on data service and source-balanced path selection algorithm are proposed, which are proved to be effective by the simulation experiment using NS2. Secondly, independent designed ZigBee nodes and expansion boards and independent developed simplified version ZigBee protocol software are introduced. The design of the ZigBee node and the expansion board includes: the node circuit based on the chip CC2430; OLED, keyboard, RS-232 circuits of the expansion board. In the process of simplified version ZigBee protocol software developing, the framework of protocol software implementation which is of good portability and good expansibility is put forward; parameters, data structures and services which are defined in the ZigBee protocol are realized through programming; the finite state machine for every protocol layer which is the difficult point in protocol software implementation is designed; friendly APIs and two programming modes are provided for user programs development.In order to realize the mix of ZigBee network and Internet, ZigBee-GPRS gateway is also developed in the dissertation, utilizing advanced embedded system technology and GPRS wireless communication technology. The implementation of ZigBee-GPRS gateway is introduced from aspects of hardware and software. The hardware aspect includes the circuit design of core-board and expansion-board for the embedded Z-G gateway; the software contents are as follows: configuration and transplanting of bootloader, Linux core and file system for the embedded system, the compilation of GPRS automatic dialing script, key techniques and programming methods of protocols conversion for realizing ZigBee-GPRS gateway.Finally, the method, result and result analysis of the entirely self-developed system are given out. Simplified ZigBee protocol stack software and ZigBee-GPRS gateway are testified to be of practicability by system tests. The whole system is also of generalization, which means that developing certain user software, according to certain application demands, can realize the transition from general to specific.
