There is great market demand for large format inkjet printer which can directlyprint images from the portable storages such as U disk etc. Embedded computercomplete all image processing of this type printer which have large amount of dataprocessing, but usually it have limited hardware resources and performance. So theperformance of processing image data and restricting printing data is key factor for thedevelopment of this type printer.The paper describes the structure and working principle of large dimension inkjetprinter and halftoning algorithm adopted in the printer; according to the requirementsof printing images from portable storages directly, a general scheme of embeddedcomputer of large format inkjet printer is designed based on ARM11; directly readingimages from U disk, SD card and other portable storages has been realized by usingmain embedded computer’s integrated USB host interface and high-speed SD card’sinterface; combined with existing hardware resources, we design and have implantedError Diffusion Halftone processing, and also rearrange the printing data according tothe print nozzle. We simulate the process of print nozzle reading printing data, verifyand test the processing performance of embedded computer.We take further research for the large format inkjet printer’s main technology thatit can print images from portable storages directly, these main technologies can bedirectly applied to large format inkjet printer which can print copy and, and canprovide with certain reference for similar product’s development.
