With the sustainable development of Chinese dairy industry and continuouslyupdated technique,the automatic measurement of the amount of milk is an essentialpart of modern dairy farms. In order to achieve the purpose of automatic milking andmilk measurement, the majority of large-scale breeding bases in China tend to importequipment. However, these imported equipments universally exists shortcomings ofhigh price and inconvenient maintenance.In order to achieve the purpose of recording individual milk production, thisproject uses image recognition and detection technology to analyze and identify themilk liquid level in milk metering bottle and calculate the weight of milk according tothe position of the liquid surface. To achieve the purpose of automaticallydistinguishing the milk production, this project uses embedded ARM9developmentboard and digital camera to capture the digital image of metering scale tables on bottleof measurement in milking station and the position of milk liquid level, and thenobtain the final measurement result through the following steps:(1) Using Hough linedetection method to correct image’s position.(2) Changing image into gray scale.(3)Filtering the gray scale image and eliminate noise in the image.(4) After filtering,carrying histogram processing out on the grayscale image.(5) Using Canny edgedetection method to detect liquid milk.(6) Calculating weight of the milk according todetected liquid level position. This system use low cost hard ware, and its softwaredevelopment environment use the open-source Linux operating system and OpenCVopen source vision library to reduce the development costs.According to on-site installation and testing, the system can accurately measurethe scale of the liquid milk and the deviation of measurement is less than three percent.The development of this system can not only improve the working environments ofNingxia Dairy Farming Park staffs, but also improve work efficiency and economicbenefits of dairy farming parks. At the same time, it will have a profound impact and a huge boost on promoting the automation and information of Ningxia dairy industry.Undoubtedly, this system has a certain degree of innovation and practical value.
