Back on the implementation of national "school milk scheme", the school milk self-service system based on GPRS was built in this paper. Using milk vending machine and the network of GPRS, the school milk self-service system can sell milk and monitor on real-time. It can solve many problems on artificial management of milk vending machine, such as high costs, large workload, unable to deal with failures. It creates a self-service environment for students, and improves the level of students' health and nutrition. Meanwhile, it increases the sales of enterprises.In this paper, based on the research of wireless monitoring system and its related technology, the whole architecture of school milk self-service system based on GPRS was designed. In addition, the milk vending machine communication terminal, the monitoring centers and the transmission protocol between them were designed and implemented respectively.Firstly, the milk vending machine communication terminal's software and hardware design was designed. By adding GPRS DTU, wireless communication function of milk vending machine was realized. Then, hardware composition and work mode of GPRS DTU were introduced. By using the serial function of uCLinux and the communication protocol of GPRS DTU, the software of milk vending machine communication terminal was designed.Secondly, the transmission protocol between the milk vending machine and the monitoring center were designed. And compared to two kinds of TCP/IP transmission protocols, a fitter transfer protocol was chosen. Then, the communication model and data packets' structure in application layer were designed and a detailed communication instance was offered. The problem that the monitoring center can't recognize the terminal automatically can be solved by the automatic registration of IP. Besides.Finally, the software of monitoring center was designed and implemented. According to the system's requirement analysis and the advantage of C/S architecture, the software of monitoring center with C/S architecture was designed. By using technology of VB database access, network communications, serial communication, the software of monitoring center was implemented. This software has lots of functions, such as receiving the sale information, the state information and the failure information from milk vending machine, and dealing with the information.This system can improve the efficiency of the milk vending machine management, improve quality of service, and reduce the operating cost. It has some reference value and practical significance for the research on wireless monitoring system. It could be applied widely in the future.
