Simulation Study On The Workshop Logistics Of A Factory

In manufacturing process, the relevant cost is almost fixed for the mainly elements suchas raw material,process machine,human resource and plant facilities. It is very difficult toreduce the manufacturing cost on such aspects. But according to one related report, about95%of manufacturing lead time is used on logistics such as storing, handling, transportation andprocess waiting. Therefore, studying on manufacturing logistics system is very important toreduce the entire manufacturing cost and then enhance the enterprise’s competition.Base on the current workshop manufacturing logistics condition and considering themanufacturing system is one kind of discrete system. It is very suitable to applyingsimulation technology such as Witness software. So the elements associated with workshoplogistics are defined in Witness program. The rules are set for each element. And this is onekind of visually dynamic display interface model, we can easily to evaluate and diagnosis theworkshop logistics and find out the potential optimizing opportunity on logistics cost. It isvery significance for reducing manufacturing cost, space and optimizing equpiment’squantity.In this thesis, I defined the detail parameter and logistic rules for each elements,completed the design of logistic module. To study the logistic cost was affted by differentlayout, moving distance and lot size.The model had been run under different moving distance and moving lot size and got thedifferent result respectively. With analyzing the elements statistics, we try to find out thecritical factor of elements of workshop and provide the right orientation for improving theworkshop’s logistic system.
