With the development of market economy and the deepening of reform and opening up,the domestic automobile manufacturing industry ushered in a hitherto unknown competition,at the same time, auto parts manufacturing industry facing the huge challenge from foreignmanufacture industry. If the domestic auto parts manufacturing enterprises want to get aheadin the fierce market competition, these enterprises need to introduce advanced manufacturingsystem, implement the transformation of production mode, and accelerate the transition fromextensive to lean mode. And the production layout design is the premise of implementingmanufacturing reform. The production layout which adapt to the advanced manufacturingmode can ensure the enterprise distribute the manufacturing resources rationally andeffectively,enhance the ability of enterprises respond to market demand diversification andsensitive response,provide comprehensive management ability for enterprises to give fullplay the manufacturing capacity and the modern manufacturing system in limited space. Onthe other hand, rational production layout can make the enterprise to control production costs,reduce inventory, improve production efficiency and optimize the enterprise productionenvironment effectively.On the premise of understanding the company demand and the transmissionmanufacturing process, the paper studies and discusses the transmission factory productionlayout design from the gearbox of the automobile manufacturing enterprise’s angle. The paperfirstly elaborates the research situation of workshop layout design and simulation, andintroduces in turn the concept of manufacturing shop layout, facility layout form principle,influence factors and workshop layout theory and method. And significantly introduce twokinds of layout theory method: system layout planning (SLP) and genetic intelligencealgorithm. And then combined with the data information collected during the preparationperiod, analyzed the logistics relation analysis and non logistics relation on the workshoplayout work with the theory of SLP. Fully consider the transmission manufacturing processcharacteristics and the enterprise’s future strategic planning, the paper comprehensive analysisof the relative position relationship between operation units by weighting value, and draw outthe operation unit of comprehensive position correlation diagram. On the basis of SLPqualitative analysis, to establish the mathematical model in order to control the workshoplogistics cost as objective function. With the unique multi line workshop layout codingscheme and partially matched crossover (PMX) genetic algorithm, solving workshop layoutmodel by programming genetic algorithm in the MATLAB software development platform,and drawing workshop layout scheme according to the running result. Finally, we make a supplement to the paper based on the workshop layout solution, analysis the key operationunit of workshop layout. And with the help of EM-PLANT system simulation tool, builds thesimulation model of the key operation area, through the software bottleneck analysis moduleidentifies the factory bottleneck process. Besides, the paper brings up the bottleneck improvescheme, verifies the scheme on the EM-PLANT simulation platform. It provides the theoryreference for the enterprise during the following continuous improvement of the workshoplayout and production operation.
