Research And Development Of Business Performance Management (BPM) System For Foundry Enterprises

BPM (Business Performance Management) system is a tool to help performancemanagement and strategy implementation of enterprises. It uses scientific methods todecompose strategies and goals to performance indicators and it can promote the strategyimplementation, guide the decision-making and improve the performance of theenterprises by monitoring and assessing the performance indicators. BPM originated inforeign while domestic researches have just started. BPM applications in the foundryenterprises are also at an exploratory stage.The BPM system is designed and developed based on foundry ERP，hoping to bringthe advanced concept to the foundry enterprises to help them improve their strategy andperformance management.First, this paper analyzes the BPM concept and development process, and thenintroduces the application and development status of foundry ERP of Huazhu Group. Afterthat, the necessity of applying BPM in foundry enterprises is stated through the analysis ofproblems in the foundry enterprises performance management.Second, BPM related theories are described in detail. A performance evaluation modelis put forward by combining BSC, Analytic Hierarchy Process and fuzzy evaluationmethod. Then the model building process and methods are illustrated.Third, the methods and precautions of extracting indicators data from foundry ERPare explained after analyzing the mapping relation between ERP and BSC.Fourth, the objectives and functions of BPM are analyzed on the view of systemdevelopment, and then the key modules are illustrated in detail.Finally, the BPM is implemented in Anhui Huafeng Heavy Machinery Co., Ltd,through which the usage of the system is introduced. By analyzing the performance resultsof the case, it is showed how the BPM prompts the performance management.The system can satisfy the foundry enterprises’ performance management well. Thenormative of the indicators, the efficiency of performance appraisal and the accuracy ofappraisal results are improved through implementation of BPM in the foundry enterprises.
