The information construction of the manufacturing enterprises is gradually from thelayer of management and controller to the execution layer. Radio frequency identification(RFID) is the main technology in the automatic identification field with many advantagessuch as high security, good environment adaptability, long distance recognition, rapidrecognition and so on. Using RFID to manage and monitor the manufacturing process cansignificantly improve the data collection of manufacturing process so as to enhance the corecompetitiveness of enterprises. This thesis takes the assembly line of Sany18th factory asresearch object and puts forward a RFID-based proposal for management of themanufacturing process. The main contents are as follows:Firstly, the thesis discusses the characteristics of the manufacturing process and thegeneral requirements of the RFID-based manufacturing process management. Then thepertaining solutions, using Sany internal networks to integrate RFID system with MES systemare brought out according to given application conditions from Sany, which not onlystrengthens the supervisory control and data acquisition of the manufacturing process, butalso achieves work-in-progress tracking and assembly visualization.Furthermore, the thesis proposes a method to design a UHF RFID tag mountable onmetal. The tag uses micro strip patch antenna and is simulated with the software of HFSS tomake antenna impedance conjugate to chip impedance, so that the tag can work in the metalenvironment. Finally, the management system of the manufacturing process is developed with C#language and SQL Server2000database, which is divided into three parts: server, client andPDA. The corresponding functional models are designed and the database is built accordingto the principles of database design. Synthesis debugging of the software and hardware isexecuted, which demonstrates that our solution is both feasible and effective.
