With the increasing data needs of mobile users, existing2G networks have been increasingly unable to meet user needs, and how the introduction of3G networks to become a real problem, the Ministry of Industry also3G operators license issued to the three major carriers in2008. China Unicom issued a WCDMA license, although the WCDMA network construction already has a history of10years on a global scale, but how to build a brand new network has become a new challenge for operators and equipment manufacturers are still good maintenance operations.In this thesis, the evolution from2G networks to3G networks described in the course of the development of China’s mobile communication network, based on WCDMA network application background and significance into the details of the method and the importance of the network construction and maintenance, wireless network planning the actual focus, combined with analysis of the branch in Baotou City, China Unicom WCDMA network construction program, and the subsequent network optimization program implementation and improvement.
