Laser processing technology is widely used in printing plate making industry,such as laser typesetting technology, computer to plate technology, laser engravingplate technology. Flexography printing is less investment, high efficiency; andequipment is simple, easy to operate; green environmental protection, productionefficiency. With the development of the laser engraving technology and new materials,the quality of laser engraving has been continuously improved. But as consumersincreased the printing requirements of product quality, laser engraving platetechnology also needs much higher quality.To control the quality of laser engraving plate, the image of the sculpture hasbeen effectively dealt with to meet the needs of engraving and printing. In this paper,the best solution for complex multi-layer stack, mainly for processing the PLT file hasbeen put up with interpreting different formats of vector graphics into engravinggraphics format to output high quality carving. Bitmap images (grayscale images bycolor later) must be converted to meet the printing screening requirements for theoutput binary image.In the paper the engraving processing technology begin mainly from two aspectsof path optimization and slopes carved of a reasonable choice of two-way one-waycarving sculpture which is according to different format plates and qualityrequirement. Although Bi-directional carving accuracy has a bit weak location, it canbe used to improve production efficiency for the average large-format, lowrequirements of the printing plates. The size of the air distance can make more precisesettings and authentications. In order to increase the compressive strength of the plateto improve printing quality, the16slopes carved effect has been got by imageboundary segmentation method and the boundary power control.In this paper, the best sculpture parameter settings have been determined by alarge number of experiments on specified equipment. The image output resolution iscontrolled to200-300pixels. Screening line number should not exceed100lines perinches. Output power carving is controlled at10-15mA to make engraved plates inthe appropriate depth. The carving speed is in the general rate of100-200mm perseconds. The choice of step is setting different requirements according to theprecision in the range of0.1mm-0.2mm. The choice of focal plane location of different options is determined according to the engraving depth and depthrequirements under the graphic format. Good flame resistance selection plate is usedto prevent serious erosion. According to plate thickness and radius of curvature of theplate cylinder, circumferential size of the plate is compressed in order to preventdeformation of the printing plate size. At the same time the right carving parametersetting methods are got by the system analysis and argument on the relationshipbetween the above parameters.
