Laser engraving is a high-tech product which includes laser, optics, precision mechanism and computer. So it is a aspiration industry now and in future. Laser engraving realizes carving as the comparative moving of laser in the surface of materials which absorb energy so as to be boiled away. As the laser engraving software is dedicated, with commercial, proprietary and highly confidential properties, there is no off-the-shelf software for drawing sculpture, and some graphics software used only for general-purpose machine in the PC for processing or printing output can not be directly used for laser engraving, so the related software development for TrueType large font laser engraving systems has really practical significance.In this paper, the main work and the results are as follows:(1) The structure and storage format of the TrueType fonts file have been analyzed. And the process of reading datas from the TrueType font file has been discussed. According to the needs of the TrueType large font laser engraving, some mathematic problems about vector graphics in the plane are studied in details. Improvement some algorithms, increases the efficiency of the windows line clipping and polygon scan line filling.(2) The paper introduces the configuration in whole hardware and software, and based on the theoretical analysis and discussion above, the simulation of the TrueType large font laser engraving has been done. And the result proved that the algorithms we put out and discussed are feasible. It will be a fundamental mathematic work for the entire laser engraving software development.
