The video website is rapidly developing as a new grown industry, this research isbased on the development of China’s video websites. When the world’s first video siteYoutube was born in2005, China was so greatly encouraged by its success that theystarted to establish their own sites. The development of video sites in China have gonethrough several stages as the birth in2005, the growth in2006, the struggle in2007,the depression in2008, the revival in2009, the confusion in2010and the prosperityin2011.Through the development of China’s vedio website, we can see that it will go onthe way of the mutual cooperation and common development. And the websitesthemselves will move towards the development of payment models, as well as thehigh definition. Particularly, these websites will focus on the contents made,this is thetrands and strategies in China’s development of current video websites.China’s video websites could be divided into shared vedio websites、clientwebsites、the portals、radio and television networks for television website.The typicalof these four websites are Youku、PPTV、Souhu and CNTV. Compared with contentand profit modle, we can infer the future growing of China’s vedio website.We use SWOT to anylise the advantages、disadvantages、opportunities andchallenges of China’s vedio websites.Then we can find the direction and the problemof China’s video websites. From the essay, it can be seen that there are three mainfactors interacting on the development of video sites which are the copyright, theprofits and the technological and financial scarcity. Only when the profit model turnsinto legalization, differentiation, and pluralism, can the development of China’s videosites be developed in a fast, healthy and ideal direction.
