In2005,the fist video sharing website YouTube emerged. Like a ripple that madebig splashes, about300Chinese video websites came out one after another.However,with the development of the industry, they have put up a fierce struggle to survive.Copyright deputes, high costs and unclear money-making model made most of thewebsites unable to make profits, which led to a sharp drop in the number of them. Toattract audience, the last remaining scores of video websites brought in large amountsof video programs, which not only caused the rise of the cost but also the weakness ofhomogenous content.Content decides business value. It is better to commit self-aid than buy exclusivevideo copyright therefore using user-generated as the sharp weapon for competitionhas became their best choice. On the one hand, this broke the homogeneityphenomenon among video websites and meanwhile satisfied the diversity needs of thevideo users. On the other hand, it could create unique style of the self-made programsand built the popularity of the websites in order to increase organic site traffic.As the emerging thing, the self-made website shows still have their weaknessbefore they can be used as a key weapon for video website diversity, especially intheir early phases.
