Although the development of information technology has deeply influenced contemporary corporations in decades, information system has some weakness. Appropriately managing information system to meet business requirements is a key factor for a corporation to compete against others and win in marketing competition because information technology is not perfect, which is the background of Information Technology Service Management. ITIL (Information Technology Infrastructure Library), which was born in 1980s, is a public framework that describes Best Practice in IT service management. ITIL, a way of delivering service, concludes processes that instruct how to manage IT infrastructure. The processes-oriented and customers-centered framework can make continual measurement and improvement of the quality of IT service delivered by integrating IT services and business requirements. ITIL might lead organizations to effectively and efficiently use technology and then make currently available information resource play a vital role. Presently ITIL has three versions. This article presents how to introduce cloud computing in the process of operation and maintenance based on the guidelines of ITIL in the project of off-site operation and maintenance for Smart Building from Shanghai Academy of Science and Technology. A large amount of data will be collected by sensors embedded in a building in this project and these data are expected to be stored in local computers without introducing cloud computing. Because these 150 sensors are collecting data per minute, the number of local data is too large to transfer and test, with consuming a lot of time and equipments. Furthermore, it's not safe to store data in local system. As a solution, cloud computing can solve this problem with the benefits of lowering the cost of transfer and raising the safety. As to the delivery of applications, professionals and a lot of time are needed to run upgrade and maintenance without using cloud computing, which cannot meet capacity and timeliness requirements from customers. On the other hand, Software as a Service (SaaS) can make upgrade and maintenance in time by using web pages with the benefits of lowering cost and reducing response time in the environment of cloud computing.
