With the rapid development of Internet and the increasement of multimedia service such as video, the demand for network access bandwidth increases rapidly. In order to solve the conflict between rapidly increasing bandwidth and low-rate broadband service, it has become a strategic choice for Hu Nan Tietong to implement the strategic transformation of access network and promote "optical fiber used, copper abandoned"PON allows many uses to enjoy one single connection without any active device in the process of transmission. Therefore, it reduces the costs of optical fiber network significantly and provides a perfect solution to the network access’s "last kilometer" problem. This paper explores the technology and methodology to substitute cooper cable with optical fiber, greatly increase bandwidth access and improve network’s carrying capacity. Major works include the following points.First, through statistics analysis, this paper points out the necessity of substituting cooper cable with optical fiber and increasing bandwidth access. Then, it innovatively raises the idea of applying different network accesses to different targeted users. Third, based on the feedback of users, the paper suggests that the access network of CRC, Hunan province should take full use of its advantages to better fulfill its users’needs. Finally, taking the project of the central business high-rise building as an example, it puts forward and verifies the bandwidth access of FTTx based on PON.With the reducing costs of optical cables and facilities, the price advantage of FTTX will become increasingly apparent. Driven by the development of big broadband business, the FTTx bandwidth access, based on PON, will become the major tool for future bandwidth access’s construction.
