With the development of broadband multi-media business such as video on demand, games, high definition digital television and so on, customers' demand for uplink bandwidth will be increased significantly. Traditional copper cable-based broadband access technology can not meet the needs of users. In this paper an upgrading program for current access is proposed through the comparison of current access technology and PON access technology, and experimental demonstration is conducted. It is hoped that current network access methods can better meet users' demand for bandwidth, reliability and capacity for comprehensive access to Internet through transformation.Passive optical network access technology is ideal for Ethernet-based platform. While offering a variety of integrated services, it solves the problem of bandwidth bottlenecks and meets growing bandwidth requirements in the same time. This paper focuses on the feasibility and advantages of the passive optical network when connecting with the existing network. In an experiment networking methods are divided into 6 different types of access patterns by networking scene, and we design a corresponding model according to actual scene. And the feasibility of the scheme is tested. Through long-term research, testing and analysis, the transformation of the existing network is divided into two ways, namely, "broadband down, voice maintaining the current status "and "broadband down, voice synchronously down. " In the network model after transformation users can use a wider bandwidth, get more services and have more stableness. The problem that some integrated business can not be applied due to the insufficiency of bandwidth is solved. The advantage of passive optical network access is fully reflected.
