A Study On The FTTH Technology And Its Applications In Access Networks

FTTH (fiber to the home) is an optical access network application types which isthe most close to the user with an optical network unit (ONU) installed in the home ofa user or nearby users. In recent years, the rapid development of FTTH technologyhas become a hot spot in the field of telecommunications technology, therefore ChinaTelecom presents a strategic disposition called copper retreat into the light, andaccelerates the popularize pace.The thesis firstly overviews the current situation and development of FTTH, thenintroduces the basic theoretical knowledge such as the system structure of FTTH andthe requirement of the optical apply. Secondly, the paper discusses the PON accesstechnology in detail, especially there is a comparison between the EPON and GPONtechniques, and introduced the application of the EPON and GPON in FTTH. Basedon the analysis, the paper proposes different FTTH construction solutions in differentnetwork operation and kinds of application scenarios. Finally, we take the FTTHoptical cable construction project of Jiangsu Xuzhou Yunfeng as an example, anddiscuss the EPON FTTH realization scheme in detail, and put forward relevantbusiness solutions according to user needs and FTTH access technologycharacteristic.
