Design And Implementation Of A Digital Library Management Information System Based On ASP.NET

In the21st century， IT has infiltrated into every aspect of people’s life. Manyexperts in education advocate the concept of information technology in education.The development of digital library occupies a very important position in China’scurrent higher education. The digital library management information system (DMIS,Digital Library Management Information System) is an independent research anddevelopment projects of the school. Specialized to our school characteristics that theengineering and project funds are not sufficient and student-level diversity, combinedwith the construction of the school curriculum standards and the College, this systeminitiate a new path for the construction of our digital library, which is significant inimproving the quality of teaching, teachers’ operational capacity, as well as theefficiency of student learning, and the improvement of school teaching resources.The digital library management information system with the new ASP.NETdevelopment tools and advanced C#development language, adapts the newtechnological system so that advancement and stability is assured. Meanwhile itimproves the efficiency of development; the system runs on local area network B/S(Browser/Server) mode, which not only helps to optimize the use and management ofapplications, but also effectively reduce operating costs.The digital library information system mainly consists of six modules, includingthe user center, digital books, digital audio and video, electronic document, statisticsmanagement and system management. The system will organize a series of digitalinformation of our school like the digitized books, instructional videos, electronicfiles, and so on. The System runs mainly on the internal local area network of ourcampus, to manage the electronic books, electronic videos, electronic files, to uploadand download the files attached, to counsel, to sensor and some other functions, forteachers, students, librarians and other users. Application of the system can makeinformation resources fully extended, and faster, more effective and more widelyused.The main content of this thesis is to research about the background and thenecessity to establish the University digital library management information system,to analyse the survey results, to gain the metadata information, to classify the digitalresources, to design the examples of using the digital library, data dictionary, database, etc.; to develop its function modules, to build a digital information resource sharingplatform, to accumulate the basic data, and to promote the system to teachers andstudents.
