The cases selected in the dissertation are originated from American Library Association. First of all, in these universities which, at present time, have the ALA accreditation for the Master of Library and Information, the arrangements of courses called Digital Library or other related names will be demonstrated. Two universities will be chosen from them as the cases, both of which are characterized by obvious specialties as well as fruitiness of reference files. Through analyses to these two cases, the main parts of the article state the basic course structures for Digital Library in American education for library and information and their respective characteristics. What’s more, the Digital Library course will be regarded as the‘driller’, digging deeply to find out the strong implicit influence of the education for library and information in US. In next chapter, because of the background of American education for library and information:the college education in US the author expresses his own notions that, not only can the American educators of detailed realm of library and information be valuable references to their Chinese peer, but provide them some constructive suggestions and beneficial things. At the end of the dissertation, the conclusion will be drawn through the analyses of main parts that, the Chinese educators can learn a lot from their American peer.
