Internet education is now an established phenomenon and a growing indusrty worldwide. While web-based courses were a rarity only a decade ago in China, they have become an accepted means of providing higher education since the trials have been carried out in68universities. It can be seen that colleges and universities are striving to have the most effective educational programs. As far as Distance Education College of Jiangnan University is concerned, a large amount of experience has been accumulated. However, it can’ t be denied that a lot of challenges have also ouccured. Among those challenges, tracking, monitoring and supervising of students’ learning process is the key to guarantee the quality of distance education.Students’ learning platform, or online learning environment is of vital importance to the assessment of learning validity. A lot of improvements have been put forward on the feedback received from the platform. Meanwhile, recording function has not been incorporated into the construction of the platform, which is a defect of the current system of Distance Education College of Jiangnan University too.This thesis attempts to analyse the learning behavior of online learners’ on the theoretical foundation of online teaching and learning. The data are collected from Distance Education College of Jiangnan University. Learners’ behavior has been analysed from four aspects including self-study ablitity, accessibility to teaching resources, interaction that occurs during online teaching and learning process and validity of interaction dimensions.A system of monitoring and analysing has been designed and developed with the help of C language, jQuery and SQL Server2005. This system consists of three modalities, including the analysis of access to the homepage, to the revelent courses and random visits, which can provide support to the mamagement of Distance Education College. In order to exert the system, much feedback has been collected since its application.Last Chapter is a conclusion, which indicates the feasibility of improvement of the whole system.
