Virtual walkthrough is a kind of teehnology that can produce a highly real simulation environment by using computer algorithm to make users immerse into the virtual environment. In this kind of system, man-machine interafe are used to accomplish interaction between users and virtual environment. Compared with the traditional planform and computer animation, the immersion, interaction and realtime function of virtual navigating system is unapproachable. This advantage makes the virtual walkthrough technology paly an increasingly important role in city lay-out, real estate marketing, landscape design, interior design and other fields.This thesis first simply introduced the basic concepts, characteristics, development, and research status domestic and international of virtual reality and virtual walkthrough technology, then introduced the function,module division and system development environment of estate virtual walkthrough system developed in this paper, next propose the detai of the virtual scene(including terrain, sky, and three-dimensional model) construction method, fiianlly propose a kind of fast collision detection algorithm and scene optimization algorithm for virtual estate walkthrouth.Based on the trait of buding models, this article propose a kind of fast collision detection algorithm for virtual estate walkthrouth. This algorithm firstly partitions the scene projection on the x_z plane into grids, then obtain building models’minimum bounding rectangles aligned with x_z axis and the grid where they located in. Finally this algorithm judges whether the rectangle and the viewpoint’projection on x_z plane collided by their spatial relationship. This article propose solution for minority particular building models such as arched door.This paper analyzes the existing three-dimensional scene optimization techniques, combined with the characteristics of the estate virtual walkthrouth scene, propose the scene optimization algorithm based on mapped meshing and object bounding box optimization algorithm.The algorithm first cull objects does not in sight by spatial relationship of the grid which the object located and the level projection range of visual pyramid. For objects that may in sight,the algortthm first choos suitable level of model. Finally draw the triangles in child-bounding box which is in the visual pramid.A virtual estate workthrouth system is developed by the author using VC++and OpenGL. In addition, the thesis did experiment to analysis the virtual real estate walkthrouth scene collision detection algorithm and optimization algorithm based on mapped meshing and object bounding box. Experimental Results Show that the algorithms improve the scene rendering efficiency very well.
