With the advantages of convenient construction, Image-based Rendering (IBR) technique based on geometric modeling avoids complicated computing, and has the advantage of easy implementation, high quality of pictures and fast rendering. It has been widely applied and become a research hotspot now. The virtual scene generated by IBR is called Image-Based Virtual Space. The spherical panorama stitching technique is one of the key factors of virtual scene immersive feeling, and has become an important scene expression method in virtual reality and computer vision. This paper analyzes the key technology of spherical Image-Based Virtual Space construction firstly, studies the image stitching technique based on feature points, virtual scene construction model and virtual scene roaming technique based on spherical panorama. The main work are depicted as followings:1. The key steps which affects SIFT algorithm are analyzed based on the research on SIFT, an improved image seamless stitching algorithm based on feature points is proposed, to solve the problem of high dimensional feature descriptor's large calculation. The algorithm's efficiency has been improved by using the characteristic of image Radon transform and reducing the dimensions of feature descriptor in the SIFT algorithm.2. To be aimed at the problem of lacking space three-dimensional relationship between view points, the common virtual scene construction models is analyzed, and a construction model of the cube virtual scene based on spherical panorama is put forward. Under the condition of satisfying users'usual operation, the model extends the routes of single node, and makes the relationship of view points expanded to three dimensions.3. In order to improve the using efficiency of existing resources, by analyzing the property of cubic virtual scene construction model from the point of resource scheduling policy, an intelligent roaming algorithm in the new virtual scene construction model is designed. The algorithm determines the predicted object by building the browsing expectation, and renders it in advance, which reduces the time of real time rendering.4. Based on the requirements analysis of Image-Based Virtual Space roaming prototype system, the framework, function module and roaming mechanism of the system are designed, and the functions of image processing module, scene management module and interactive module are implemented. The system realizes the functions of virtual scene construction, real time roaming and user interactive control.
