With the development of virtual reality technology and the Internet,especially people'sincreasing demand for tourism,virtual tour has attracted worldwide attention. Research anddevelopment on virtual roaming system of scenic spot has become a hot spot in field of virtualreality. Technique of virtual roaming of scenic spot is an important branch of Virtual Reality,and it applies graphic image technology of computer for constructing the scenic spots that areeither existed or not, and then use the 3D programming techniques to generate a completevirtual roaming system of scenic spot, the user can roam in the virtual scenic spot andinteractive with it within doors, and then the viewer can also reach a kind of feeling thathimself is personally on the scene.Firstly, this thesis elaborates the theoretical basis of roaming system of virtual scenicspot, analyzes the advantages of applying X3D to construct a virtual scenic spot, points outthat the reason of choosing x3D as a development technology of roaming system of virtualscenic spot. Then, it analyses needs of the system, proposes some objectives and principles ofthe system design, and gives the overall system architecture. Finally, focus on detailedanalysis and research on the key technologies involved in the system development, including:(1) Construction of the three-dimensional virtual scene. This topic adopts hybrid method ofgeometric modeling and image-based modeling, make use of X3D and 3DS Max to constructmodel of scene in virtual scenic spot, perform analysis and research on modeling method andoptimization technology in virtual scene, gives the construction process of virtual scenic spotand related modeling instances and achieves the integration of the virtual scenic spot bymaking use of Inline node and other related nodes in X3D. (2)Research and implementationof system interaction. This section makes a in-depth study of the interaction and itsimplementation on roaming system of virtual scenic spot. Focus on the technology ofcollision detection in virtual scenic spot, and proposes a hierarchical collision detectionmethod according to the features of great scenes and multi-objects of virtual scenic spot. The method used in this thesis meet the demand of precision, reduces the detection number andthe complexity of the collision detection, improve the real-time feature effectively. and it is akind of effective and rapid collision detection method for large-scale virtual scene.The testing of the systems proves that it is featured with real-time effectiveness,interaction, and has a good visual effect. Users can not only visit the virtual scenic spot, butalso can do some simple real-time interaction during the visit.
