Recently, on the one hand, in the dual challenges of ageing and the economic crisis, in order to effectively reduce the burden of the family medical expenses at the same time, enable people to enjoy higher level service of health in home, the modern home medical monitoring system is the focal point that people study on; the other hand, Recent remarkable technological advances in wireless communication and smart phones makes it possible to design and implement a new home health monitoring system with good mobility, comfortableness and scalability. Based on the above background, the paper proposed the home health monitoring system (HHMS)that is base on embedded techniques, wireless techniques, smart phone techniques, computer techniques, medical techniques and so on. It solves the defects of the existing system.In this paper, the HHMS is taken as research object. Based on embedded techniques, wireless techniques, smart phone techniques, computer techniques and so on, an instance of the system design is presented. Meanwhile, the system is implemented using languages such as C, Java and PHP, and combining with the Android mobile development platform. This paper presented a general3-tier system architecture. These three layers are monitoring device, smart phone client and remote medical center. The HHMS achieves basic physiological indexes of acquisition using monitoring terminal, transmits the collection data by Bluetooth, preprocesses the gathered data、controls the process of the monitoring and provides the interface of doctor-patient interaction using the smart phone client, provides remote interaction via3G network, diagnosis the physiological index and saves results using powerful storage and analysis capabilities of the remote medical center. The medical center-side uses a system architecture based on Web Services, it provides a configurable, extensible service-oriented architecture, it apt to exploit the application for the monitoring and treatment of patients with chronic diseases based on the architecture. Meanwhile, the bottom layer of the system use standard、secure data communication protocol, the top layer of the system build the data service interface based on Web Service, which can meet secure access of the others concerned as well as third-party application integration.Taking blood glucose monitoring for example, the paper implement a home blood glucose monitoring system based on3G smart phone. By comparison with the conventional blood glucose monitoring system, the system can correctly complete the acquisition of basic physiological indicators as well as remote diagnostics. Besides, the system has friendly interface, mobility, scalability and ease of use and so on, which will play an important role in the future of home health monitoring applications.
