The core business of Heilongjiang Tietong (hereafter referred to as’The Company’) is fixed-line and internet services. Over the course of a long period of time developing effective sales models in product marketing, the Company has learnt adopting methods such as on-spot sales in residential complexes, home-visiting sales and retail store sales, etc., which at first offered great help for sales of the Company, but eventually failed as competition in telecommunication market heated up, the reason for which is excessive costs and mismatching effectiveness. As such, adopting a new method backed by advanced IT technology became the focus of the marketing team of the Company. Incorporating SMS in marketing and sales can be rewarded by rich sales revenue yet with fewer costs.The SMS Marketing Platform of the Company is mainly based on Mobile Agent Server (MAS) system, which by extracting data from many business supporting systems can obtain marketing and sales data of each end user or client. The involved business supporting systems include Accounting System, Business Operation Supporting System (BOSS), Customer Services Contact Centre System, Client Relationship Management System(CRM), Broadband System, and Price Plan Matching System. The SMS Marketing Platform not only helps conducting effective marketing, but provides means for customer services and helps incorporating cross platform data.This thesis mainly focuses on the design and implementation of the SMS Marketing Platform and presents the value of the platform in marketing and customer services supporting roles. During the development phase the main outbreak is to successfully design and implement the socket interface between the SMS marketing system and BOSS, which makes the extraction of business data and clients’ information possible; and the interface between the SMS marketing system and MAS system is also in place to help batch transferring of the messages.
