With the develop of the people’s living standards, our understand to the qualitative of home safety have changed, from the security doors in90years to the doorbell alarm after that, and now the popular camera. Security system has been developed to a more mature stage. And the video surveillance have developed from the traditional bulky analog signal to today’s digital monitoring system. This paper has put forward a simple, beautiful, and real-time program:ARM11-based embedded network video monitoring system, This system has the characteristic of both economical and practical, reliable and stable, and so on. It can be applied in a lot of places, such as personnel monitoring, remote management, fire alarm, security guard, etc., especially suitable for home personal use.Video surveillance system is a very strong integrated system of having prevent ability. It is also part of the security system. So this system is used in many occasions with its intuitive, easy application advantages. Such as large entertainment and important sectors in companies. More slowly into our ordinary people’s life, as we are assured of "safe small guard."Our video surveillance system is different from the popular system in market which carring a large computer. We refer to the advanced embedded technology to freeze the video surveillance system in a small car above. Smaller volume of space, reduced costs, saved space, thus effectively raisied the value of our research value. In this paper the hardware is based on Samsung S3C6410(hereinafter referred to ARM6410) as the core. The platform includes Nandflash, SDRAM, USB camera, LCD, RJ45standard network interface, WIFI enabled miniPCI interface and RS-232interface.Software is the top priority of this issue, because we focus on embedded platform, we must first build a good development environment for embedded Linux. All development is in the Linux operating system of ubuntu, This includes porting Bootloader, Linux kernel and create root file system; Network video server supports Web Gateway Interface CGI. JAVA language we use in this part of the transmission part of the network-based RTP/RTCP Real-time transmission technology, because the network connection for packet loss causes the phenomenon of instability in the system at the receiving end of the packet data recovery; video compression, decompression, storage, transmission is achieved using Linux C; video capture module, we call the standard Linux kernel driver V4L2video devices, and the process of gathering a thorough description. Video image compression chip ZC301camera is used that comes with JPEG compression, MJPEG image compression format high-definition, single-frame image is more suitable for further image processing. The last part of the art control interface was designed using C++language in the QT development platform to complete.
