With the social progress and people's security consciousness, video surveillance system is playing a more and more important role in various fields especially in Security System, the development trend of video surveillance system is the digital monitor system based on embedded system, and the network video surveillance system based on IP is the current focus, Video transmission quality and size is limited because of real-time and badwidth..At present the best network transmission with video compression technology is H.264, wireless surveillance system with its flexible deployment, covering a wide range is a powerful cable surveillance system complement, caused the domestic and foreign scholars' attention, and get more and more applications.In this article, a wireless video surveillance system based on ARM was proposed, by in-depth analysis and understanding embedded technology and research on video compression technology, combining the feature and advantages of the wireless LAN and embedded system, and adopt background subtraction method to implement anomaly detection.The newest ARM 11 S3C6410 was used as the main monitoring terminal chip which transplanted the embedded Linux operating system. The wireless video surveillance system was designed and implemented based on the operating system, which mainly included the following parts:1) The purpose and significance of the research work, the current research status of video surveillance system and the embedded systems Linux and ARM was introduced in the article.2) The function requirements of the wireless surveillance system were analysied, and a system main frame system was proposed.3) The parts of system were designed and implemented, which included the video collection, H.264 compression, RTP package, wireless transimission and anomaly detection procession.4) The wireless video surveillance system was Real-time achived, transferred, diaplayed and alarmed when the anomaly was detected.
