ZigBee is a short-range, low power consumption, low rate, low-cost two-way wireless communication technology. Because of its technical characteristics, It is mainly applied in the short-range, low power consumption and low transfer rate for data transmission among the various electronic device. It will prospect in many areas such as agriculture, industry, environmental monitoring, medical care, disaster relief, and smart home etc. Against the shortcomings of the monitoring system of the equipment, this paper tries to apply Zigbee wireless communication technologies and wireless sensor network technology to the equipment’s data collection and transmission. In order to improve the flexibility of field data collection, a wireless monitoring system is developed by adopting the embedded technology.This paper builds the star sensor networks based on ZigBee technology. Two kinds of nodes are designed in the network to collect the vibration signals of the mechanical equipment. Key technology researches were done according to results of the monitoring. Mainly, the hardware design of the sensor node and transceiver node were completed to extract the characteristic values of the vibration signal. According to the characteristics of the transceiver nodes and sensor nodes, this article designed the transceiver and sensor node software platforms. Due to the flexible use of the embedded technology, the product can complete the basic functions with reliability and simplicity.By selecting the sensor modules, wireless communication modules, microprocessors and other devices, and designing the external interface circuit and power supply module, this article completed the hardware design of the transceiver and sensor nodes and drew the schematic. TI’s ZigBee protocol stack was adopted to write and debug communication program for wireless sensor node. Windows CE6.0embedded operating system was employed in the trandceiver node. CC2420wireless communication module driver program was written.
