Wireless sensor network is used for data collection, processing and transmission of themeasured object. A wireless sensor network consists of some sensor nodes and a sink node;sensor nodes are the basic components of the wireless sensor network, it can achieve thebasic wireless communication function, can also be equipped with different sensors; sinknode is the information center of wireless sensor network, sensor nodes collect theinformation of the measured objects to send, which is received by the sink node, and sinknode send to principal computer or the Internet.Vibration monitoring has a wide range of applications in the military as well as civilian. This paper take vibration monitoring as background, design a set of sensor network nodes. When the sensor detects the vibration occurs, the sensor node sends an alarm signal, whichwill be collected by the sink node, and the sink node will send the information to theprincipal computer to display. The design is divided into two parts, namely the design of the sensor nodes and thedesign of sink node. The paper first describes the overall design of the system, put forwardthe performance indicators which the system design to achieve, and then calculate theparameters of the hardware and software based on the performance indicators, design thesensor nodes and sink node’s hardware and software for their different features. In the nodesdesign section, the paper gives the basis of choosing MSP430MCU as sensor nodesmicrocontroller, and elaborates the program flow of the sensor nodes (the nodes judge thatwhether there is vibration occur and send an alert); and introduced the reason why to chooseOMAP as development platform of sink node, then, the paper gives how to build thedevelopment environment of sink node. Finally, the debugging of the system is introducedand the result is discussed.
