Now, video surveillance system is applied widely in the field of security. With the software and hardware developed at top speed, markets need more requirements to the city surveillance system of no blind spot. Such as:multifunctional, high intelligence, high integration, install and make network expediently. Video image acquisition system is a subsystem of video surveillance system. For the requirements of market, the system is designed. Its main function is capturing and preprocessing video information. The system has lots of good characters, its according to the marketing requirements.The system can acquire standard video image by camera. Normally, it is installed at the front part of video surveillance system. First, the paper introduced some subjects, technology applications and the development at home and abroad that about design video surveillance system. Combined with the characteristics of the development of safe city, video surveillance system is required raising the area of video surveillance net covered, immediate processing ability, high intelligent, abundant functionality and great accuracy. This system is designed from the requirement of the image processing, combined with the logic of the sequential circuit. The system is a subsystem. It and another subsystem with infrared camera process video signal at the front part of video surveillance system, the two results is integrated and appear on the monitor.The system function is achieved by the module of video collection, video distribution, A/D, timing circuit. The image of the smooth, filtering, sharpening, tracking function is achieved by the programs of built-in the DSP flash. Image preprocessing part of the requirements and system combined with demand of the bearing capacity of, choose the more simple algorithm, and test implementation.In the future, video surveillance technology will be developed to networking and equipment. Operational speed, recognize rate, and reliability are important index. So designing video image acquisition system is a basis condition of achieving hereinbefore aims. The outstanding performance of Video image acquisition system has very important significant to sharing working for the video processing and image recognizing, and advancing the capability of video surveillance system.The main work of the paper is design the electronic circuits of the subsystem, providing high-speed and stable hardware platform for carrying big computation load recognition algorithms.
