With the development of the digital image processing and IP network technology, the real-time imageprocessing system was widely applied in daily life, military, industry, medical treatment and others. The hardware implementation of the real-time image processor is the precondition of real-time image processing and network transmission, the core of the video product and the foundation to research the video processing arithmetic. This thesis is focused on the design and implementation of the software and hardware of the real-time image processor. Significant results of the work include:1. An implementation scheme of the real-time image processor is proposed. In this scheme, to achieve the hign processing ability, TMS320DM642 DSP is applied as the core processor and a Xilinx FPGA XC2V1000 is used as the auxiliary processor. The designed real-time image processor has four input video ports, one multi-standard output video port,Ethernet interface,PCI interface, four UART interface.2. Design of the schematic,PCB layout and manufacture, measurement of the proposed image processor is accomplished. Some design rules on signal integrity are successfully applied in the PCB design schedule, to achieve the high-speed performance of the hardware circuit.3. Design and debugging of all function module is finished with the application of DSP/BIOS, CSL and DDK. Experimental results show that all the function module work well, and verfy the correction of the designed hardware and software.4. With the use of RF5 software reference frameworks of TI DSP, the programme and debugging of the JPEG 2000 image compression is finished, and the transmission of the compressed image by Ethernet is implemented.
