Implementation And Application Of The RSVPTE Protocol In MPLS Network

This dissertation presents the researching achievements focused on the designs andimplementations for the protocol of RSVP-TE and the related applications of RSVP-TE.On the basis of introducing the technology of MPLS, the architecture of MPLS andRSVP-TE protocol, the requirements analysis, preliminary design and detailed design ofRSVP-TE protocol are elaborated. System tests of RSVP-TE protocol based onComware system are proposed. The application of RSVP-TE in traffic engineering andvirtual private network is also analyzed in this dissertation.The waterfall model is chosen to be the development methodology according to thefeature that RSVP-TE is a control signaling rather than application software.Layer0-1protocol diagrams, system analysis and outline of requirement points are carried outin requirements analysis.Layer2protocol diagrams, module division and important datastructure are designed in preliminary design.In detailed design, the interface functionsand running design of main modules are seriously researched.With the clear target, the operating mechanisms of the MPLS network andRSVP-TE protocol, including message format, basic concepts and key features, areformulated in this dissertation. By the analysis in the application of MPLS trafficengineering,the comparison RSVP-TE with CR-LDP which support MPLS trafficengineering, development methodology and development environment of theprotocol,the formulation of concrete work from requirements analysis to detailed design,are set forth. The technical solutions and implementations are proved to be feasible bythe experimental tests. This dissertation also puts forward further discussion to theapplication of RSVP-TE. By the analysis in basic application in traffic engineering, theextended discussion of application in MPLS VPN is given.The application of RSVP-TEin MPLS TE and MPLS VPN are explained separately in aspects of applicationintroduction and network example. It is pointed out that MPLS TE tunnel can work aspart or all of public network tunnel in MPLS L3VPN.The testing results from the Comware system with RSVP-TE protocol show thatall the features of the RSVP-TE can carry out implementation requirements. MPLStraffic engineering based on proposed rsvp-te can be achieved, and MPLS TE tunnels can carry private network traffic of MPLS VPN.
