The nature condition of underground coal mine is complicated that potential security risk exist.Recently in our country,coal mine accidents occurred frequently,resulting in heavy casualties and economic losses,the existing coal mine safety monitoring system has been unable to meet the needs of coal mine safety production.Wireless sensor networks(WSN) is the set of wireless communications,data collection and information processing functions of the new type of self-organization of distributed data acquisition networks,ZigBee technology is a most representative of the emerging wireless sensor networks,with a unified technical standards and low-cost.Low-power characteristics,and so on.Applying ZigBee technology to coal mine safety monitoring,will effectively increase the production of coal mine safety supervision and management.In this paper,in-depth studying of the ZigBee network technology and IEEE 802.15.4 protocol,and in the analysis of the characteristics of ZigBee technology and comprehensive comparing with other wireless communications technology,came to the conclusion applying the ZigBee to underground mine personnel locating and tracking system is feasible.On this basis,research the development of locating and tracking system at home and abroad and the latest research results of positioning technology,orientation designed the overall program to RSSI-based mine personnel locating and tracking system.Data communication platform transmit locating data from multi-workspaces on the underground to data-processing server at the control room on the ground,is built by combination of ZigBee wireless network systems and fiber-optic Ethernet.This article describes a system equipment division,and details of the hardware design,including the CC2430 based on the ZigBee module,positioning station, reference locating station,mobile locating terminals and optical transmission interface circuit design.ZigBee network application development based on TI's ZigBee protocol stack Z-Stack, functional equipment software design was described by this paper.Underground equipment requires protection,this paper introduced intrinsically safe protection technology,and proposed the method of intrinsically safe design for equipments.Finally,testing methods of ZigBee modules and network was described by this paper. The ZigBee-based underground mine personnel locating and tracking system with the practical application of value,will play an important role in safety production and management.
