TV technology has evolved from the black and white analog TV to color analog TV, and is now experiencing the transition from analog TV to digital TV. Meanwhile, with the rapid development of computer and communication technology, more and more video signals with different format emerged, so there are many ways for the generation, transmission and processing of the video signal.This subject’s main work is to develop a multi-format video source, which is used to develop and commission the inner circuit of head-up display and monitor. The video source in the subject shall supply VGA signal, CVBS signal accord with PAL, S-Video signal accord with PAL, LVDS signal and some other video signals. In addition, the video source shall provide test images, such as color bar, checkerboard patterns, and gray levels. The video source is designed as follow: The test images are generated using computer programming, and the VGA signal is provided by the computer. In addition, VGA signal is converted to other video signals needed by video format conversion circuit.This paper introduces the video signals in different format related in the subject and the transmission interface at first. Secondly, it explains the effect of the test images and how to generate them by programming. Then, the paper emphatically discusses the conversion between video signals with different format, including the principle of the conversion from VGA signal to video signals accord with PAL and LVDS signal, and the design and implementation of the conversion circuit.
