Along with computer applications were transplanted to network platform, building large-scale network integrated applications has already become an important research issue of network technology.The sharing of computing resources, storage resources and network information resources was provided for customers by integrating application systems. The primary intent of network integrated applications is the organization and unified management of network resources. Therefore, we must establish a network resource monitoring system to know comprehensively and flexiblely resource status, thus improving resource utilization.Combined with the background requirement, a network resource monitoring system is designed and implemented in this thesis. The system based on GMA monitores many types of heterogeneous resources in the wide area network which adopts distributed framework, and provides customers and high-level applications with information.Firstly, the paper summarizes the status of resource monitoring technologies and determines the implementation of this program through discussing and comparing several typical rescource monitoring systems. Secondly, after anslyzing resource information model, a unified protocol of resource status information is proposed to cope with resource monitoring information. Thirdly, an algorithm of breadth-first searching which based on undirected graph for the requirement of node collaboration is proposed to look up collaborative nodes and transmit customer requests. Finally, according to the failture of monitoring nodes, the thesis presents an optimal Bully election algorithm which employed in the monitoring system that improves the flexbility and robustness.At present, the system has passed the functional and performance tests, successfully been applied to a large-scale network information service platform, thus providing strong technical support for a military integrated electronic information system.
