The grid integrates the entire internet resources into a super-computer, which is aim to achieve the goal of sharing resources in a transparent way. It is the grid that makes it possible for users in different locations to share different resources located in different places easily. Those enormous available resources are labeled by distributed, heterogeneous and dynamic in the grid environment. They can join and leave the grid dynamically. Thus, how to find these resources and how to monitor the status of these resources becomes a problem which must be solved for the developing of the grid technology. And it is also become a hot spot in research area, too.In this paper, we have an in-deep research on the grid monitoring problem. Based on the research on the grid technique and its development, we analyze problems about the grid monitoring in detail, such as the necessity and difficulty, the design targets of grid resource monitoring system, and the architectures of the current grid resource monitoring systems. We also have a further study of the Mobile Agent technique. Due to the mobility, heterogeneity of the Mobile Agents, there is a new approach provided to help solving problems in grid monitoring by combining the Agent technique and the grid technique. On the basis of those work above, we proposed an Agent based-on grid resource monitoring system model to utilize the characteristics of the Agent technique. In this paper, we discuss the architecture and the functions of this new model, and the design details of each module. At the last part of this paper, we introduce the implement and test of this Agent-based on system model, the evaluation of system function and the further work need to do in the next work.
