Automotive Multimedia Infotainment System integrated audio-visual entertainment, navigation, communications and security as a whole has become an indispensable important part of modern vehicle. This thesis is based on an actual automotive multimedia information systems hardware design projects. It has analyzed customer’s functional requirements, referenced relevant technical programs in domestic and abroad market, studied the problems encountered in automotive multimedia infotainment system hardware design, proposed an integrated solution of automotive multimedia infotainment system hardware, selected and used new technology and devices in automotive electronics information area, completed system hardware designing, debugging and building. The system has FM/AM radio, DVD/VCD/CD/MP3 playback, audio transcription to hard disk, CD ripping, radio time-shifting,2D/3D GPS navigation, infrared wireless headphones to receive audio, infrared remote control, rear camera images, voice recognition, on screen display, touch screen, audio input interface of iPod/USB/SD/AUX audio. The system includes three main modules:Silver Box, Remote Display and Roof Monitor. As the main components of the system, the main research focus of this thesis is on the Silver Box, in which the hardware uses modular design. The embedded MCU system core chip is 32-bit car MCU: V850ES/SJ3, it has multiple A/D converter port, two channel of CAN controller, multiple I2C communication port. The embedded DSP system core chip is the powerful dedicated DSP:SH77710, it can handle digital audio/video and USB2.0 data at the same time. The Silver Box integrated each relatively independent functional module such as AM/FM tuner, audio amplifier, audio/video processing circuitry, hard disk, navigation module, DVD player and vehicle interface. The whole system applied a variety of today’s automotive electronics technology, using 40G hard disk for navigation maps and music files to achieve large-capacity storage; using FPGA chip designing ATAPI controller to get high-speed processing, transmission and switching for digital audio and video data. Using GMLAN for communication with vehicle system which is based on CAN technology, using GVIF video transmit and receive technology to achieve a long distance video transmission against interference. The thesis has deeply analyzed various kinds of electromagnetic interference occurred in vehicle, proposed series effective solutions to overcome the interference, and well completed the design on EMC solutions. The design project of automotive multimedia infotainment system hardware in this thesis has passed in validation test and in vehicle assembly test. The project currently goes into the small batch production stage. System meets the customer’s functional requirements with reliable performance and easy and comfort operation.
