With the development of information technology is accelerating and the coverage of information technology is expanding, information security problems will increase, its impact and consequences are more widespread and serious. Meanwhile, information security and the impact on economic development, national security and social stability, felt increasingly prominent and received more and more attention. In peacetime, through massive physical destruction of information carriers, and thereby achieve jeopardize information security, in a certain extent, is not feasible. However, the tug-of-war in information security, has never given up on spoilers. They are targeting the information carrier of information. Because of data easy to miss, Computer security has become the biggest hidden trouble, but also to undermine a breakthrough in information security.This paper presents the development of Hard Disk Encryption. The main purpose is to prevent the theft of computer data and to protect the data of hard disk. Saboteurs can get hard disk, but can not get the data of hard disk, so as to achieve the purpose of protecting information security. The card provides two according with ATA-6 standard interface, connects IDE hard disk to the main board. The data stored in the hard disk is encrypted. When host Reads data from the hard disk, the data must be decrypted before being used normally, otherwise, only a heap of distortion. The Card use FPGA technology to achieve encryption algorithm and IDE interface, in order to reduce the speed of encryption and decryption.Papers focus on the following main aspects: VHDL and FPGA research, ATA standard research and IDE interface realized by FPGA. Papers do a detailed study of the ATA standard, Analysis the working mechanism of the hard drive interface and the communication protocol between a host computer and hard disk. On this basis, focus on the use of FPGA programming interface functions to achieve an agreement bottom of the computer hardware, and the internal block diagram of a detailed briefing on the FPGA chip, the software flow chart in the process of the realization of the main points should be noted, eventually building a two-way FPGA IDE hard disk access and realized two ATA-6 standard IDE interface.
