Over several decades, computer technology has a great development and it has applied in many fields. Data security faces a great challenge, such as data divulgence and data destroy on purpose. According to the Computer Crime & Security Survey, data divulgence on hard disk due to laptop and hard disk theft has already ranked the second information safety issue next to computer viruses. The method to protect data is encryption technique. The FPGA technique, with advantage of flexibility, can be redesigned quickly. The result can be checked in the FPGA chip immediately. Many strong tools support the development process , that can be used easily, with low cost and a quick development cycle. It can reach a million of logic gates in a FPGA chip. Some of the chips have embedded CPUs.With flexibility, rapid development cycle and high speed transportation, the FPGA technique is used to implement the solution in this study. The protection of hard disk data has been studied abroad many years and has a great development in foreign companies, but there is still backward in this field for the the domestic study. In this paper, Data Security Process Module (DSPM) with operation system independence was designed. DSPM combined cryptography and data recovery technique to enhance data security protection ability based on FPGA technique. Finally every module of the DSPM was implemented step by step, with timing validation and testing on the EP2C8Q208C8 chip. DSPM was implemented to read & write, encrypt & descrypt and recover hard disk data successfully.
