| ObjectiveTargeting at patients who had erythema and hyperpigmentation after acne, this research divides into two stages.Stage one:to search therapeutic methods of externally using herb to treat erythema and hyperpigmentation after acne; to lay the foundation for further selecting effective herb to make masks.Stage two:to observe clinical efficacy and security of self-made herbal mask treating erythema and hyperpigmentation after acne; to provide clinical evidence for developing relevant external Chinese medicine.MethodsStage one:with randomized double-blind research method,40patients were divided randomly into four groups--group A, group B, group C and group D. Each group was10cases and treated by herb mask based on different therapeutic methods which were using aromatic herb to disperse stagnation (group A), using white herb to make skin white (group B), clearing heat and detoxifying (group C), promoting blood and Qi circulation (group D). The masks were used1time a day and28days in total. The patients must come back on the14th and18th day to finish clinical evaluation of erythema and hyperpigmentation degree.Stage two:with randomized double-blind concurrent-self-control method,40patients were divided into two groups and each one was20cases. Random formulate the therapy position of group A--left cheek used self-made herbal mask and right cheek used placebo mask. The therapy position of group B was opposite. The masks were used1time a day and28days in total. The patients must come back on the14th and18th day to finish clinical evaluation of erythema and hyperpigmentation degree, as well as testing erythema and melanin index by Mexameter (MX18).ResultsStage one:in the aspect of erythema degree, all of the four groups improved; comparing points before and after treatment, the statistical test results of group A (P=0.011), group C (P=0.024) and group D (P=0.013) showed significant difference respectively; comparing points between four groups, the statistical test showed significant difference (P=0.008). By further pairwise comparison, the clinical efficacy of group A and group D were better; the total effective rate of group A, group B, group C and group D were respectively80%,10%,50%, and70%, showing significant difference (P=0.005). In the aspect of melanin degree, all of the four groups improved; comparing points before and after treatment, the statistical test results of group A (P=0.001), group B (P=0.048), group C (P=0.008) and group D (P=0.001) showed significant difference respectively; comparing points between four groups, the statistical test showed significant difference (P=0.002). By further pairwise comparison, the clinical efficacy of group A and group D were better; the total effective rate of group A, group B, group C and group D were respectively100%,30%,60%, and90%, showing significant difference (P=0.001).Stage two:in the aspect of erythema degree, before and after treatment, comparing points of erythema degree (P=0.000) and numerical value of erythema (P=0.000) of test group, as well as numerical value of erythema (P=0.048) of placebo group, the statistical test result showed significant difference respectively. Comparing points of erythema degree (P=0.000) and numerical value of erythema (P=0.005) between two groups, the statistical test showed significant difference. The total effective rate of test group and placebo group were respectively77.1%and5.7%, showing significant difference (P=0.000). In the aspect of melanin degree, before and after treatment, comparing points of melanin degree (P=0.000) and numerical value of melanin (P=0.001) of test group, as well as points of melanin degree (P=0.048) of placebo group, the statistical test result showed significant difference respectively. Comparing points of melanin degree (P=0.000) and numerical value of melanin (P=0.001) between two groups, the statistical test showed significant difference. The total effective rate of test group and placebo group were respectively82.9%and11.4%, showing significant difference (P=0.000).ConclusionStage one:the effective methods of treating erythema and hyperpi gmentation after acne are using aromatic herb to disperse stagnation, promoting blood and Qi circulation, as well as clearing heat and detoxifying.Stage two:the self-made herbal mask is effective and has no side effects on treating erythema and hyperpigmentation after acne,. |
