Objective: This paper observes the efficacy and clinical utility of acupunctureon treating tension-type headache with qi stagnation and blood stasis based oninheriting and exploring the ancient literature, the basic theory of traditionalChinese medicine and modern research of headache.Method: Randomly divided60patients with tension type headache (TTH)into acupuncture group and medicine group,30cases each in acupuncturegroup, treated with traditional acupuncture therapy;30cases in control group, treated with oral administration of amitriptyline and oryzanol treatment. Theevaluation indexes include headache intensity grade (headache frequency, duration, duration, degree), VAS score, TCD blood flow velocity changes, acomparative study of first two indexes were conducted0,2,4weeks after theexperiment, the last index is observed and compared before and after test. Methods: statistical analysis using the SPSS12.0statistics software, the pvalue less than0.05will be considered statistically significant. Results and Conclusions:1.Comparison of the efficacy of tension-type headache. Comparison of twogroup TTH patients clinical curative effect of acupuncture group, the rate was76.7%, the total effective rate was90%; control group markedly effective ratewas53.4%, total effective rate was63.4%in the acupuncture group andWestern medicine group, significant effect (p<0.05). The two groups weretreated for4weeks after the acupuncture group TTH days of onset, frequency, duration and comprehensive score were significantly lower than the controlgroup (p<0.05). Two groups of patients will be followed-up after4-weekstreatment, headache intensity index, headache, visual analog scale, comprehensive score of the acupuncture group is much lower than westernmedicine group (p<0.05). TCD blood flow velocity of the acupuncture groupwere improved significantly better than control group (p<0.05).2.In the course of the study, patients in the acupuncture group did not feelspecial discomfort, general conditions were good,1case in the acupuncturegroup appeared flustered, chest tightness at first, but she was able to adhere tothe medication. The conventional tests in patients were normal. To sum up, the acupuncture can significantly reduce headache days, frequency, duration and degree, can also obviously improve the abnormal blood flow inthe brain, the effect of treatment and outcome measures has obviousadvantages compared to those in the western medicine group. On the otherhand, the acupuncture treatment of headache has advantages of high safetyand less side effect.
