With the rapid development of social economy, the competition of society is increasing fiercely. Mental symptoms were appeared because of more people unbearable heavy burden. The hospitalized psychiatric patients not only suffer from pains of the disease and economic pressures, but also are faced with the deficiency of family support system, psychological stress caused by social discrimination. Psychiatric patients, long-term in a closed environment and lacked of contact with society, can easily bring about the degradation of the social function, are difficult to return to social life, and have an enormous impact on family and society. The Medical science, rehabilitation science, psychology and other subjects are have done a lot related research and try to help hospitalized psychiatric patients from different angle. Social work is a professional service activities in the long-term practice of helping others develop, and a professional services behavior under the guidance of professional values, professional theory, methods and techniques It helps the disadvantaged in the society of individuals, groups and communities to overcome difficult, solve the problem, restore, improve and develop their capabilities to adapt to normal social life. The social work group work methods was combined with strengths perspective thinking method to make the use of hospitalized psychiatric patients rehabilitation practice, to promote their socialization, early recovery and return to the society.In this study, we choose psychiatric patients from a psychiatric hospital in Wuhan as the study object. Through social work practice method, explore apply strategy which is strengths perspective as the concept of the working methods of the psychiatric patients group. First I observed and interviewed the stable hospitalized psychiatric patients, health care workers and families to gather information to understand the status, characteristics, needs and tasks of hospitalized mental patients. Then there are the targeted design of a team and participate in the implementation of the group. Finally, assess and reflect the entire team process and draw conclusions on the basis of practice.This study is divided into five sections. The first part is the introduction, describes the basis for topic selection, research purpose, significance and innovation. Correlated research respectively from the rehabilitation science field, medical social work field and group social work field was reviewed. On this based, the second part of this study proposed research thinking, introduced the advantage of which strength perspective and group work methods involved in hospitalized mental patients. During the third part psychiatric patients status and needs of psychiatric patients is described on the basis of the observation, interviews with hospitalized. From the fourth section the whole group process from preparation, planning, implementation to assessment is detailed. The fifth part of this study obtained conclusions on the basis of earlier study:First, summarizes the status of psychiatric patients, problems and needs. Second, group work have a positive effect in the rehabilitation of hospitalized psychiatric patients. Meanwhile, the summary based on the practice of group work, some practical recommendations targeted for carrying out the psychiatric patients as object was carried out. First, carrying out psychiatric patients group work should give full consideration to the characteristics of service object itself. Second, carrying out psychiatric patients group work must be a long-term, not anxious. Third, carrying out psychiatric patients group work must adhere to the principles of social work. Fourth, treat the patient sincerely with the strength perspective. The last review of the entire study and reflection on the inadequacies of this study.
