The progress of the project management is one of the important branches of thefield of project management, which is an important indicator to measure the level of theproject management. Due to the presence of the human factors and Parkinson’s Lawstudent syndrome in the traditional methods of project schedule management, theduration of the project estimated is often too long and is more serious project delays. Tosome extent, critical chain management is able to make up for the shortcomings in thetraditional project schedule management method. Therefore, the application of criticalchain technology has important theoretical and practical significance to the projectschedule management.Literature analysis, comparative study, empirical analysis and the combination ofqualitative and quantitative analysis are used in this paper. Firstly, based on the theoryand analysis of advantages and disadvantages of the traditional project schedulemanagement method, it is proposed that critical chain technology should be used inproject schedule management. Secondly, elaborating the theoretical basis of the criticalchain, the basic idea, the basic assumptions and the use of steps, article Compared thecritical chain technology and traditional project schedule management method andpointed out advantages of critical chain management. Then, combining theidentification of the critical chain, buffer settings and buffer management, article build aproject schedule management model based on the critical chain. The model in theimport buffer settings considered the complexity of the process, the degree of flexibility,resource constraints and other factors. It is proposed to use principal componentanalysis of the allocation of buffer capacity and set import buffer behind the non-criticalwork in order to control project progress. The method effectively solves the problems ofthe key strand breaks, the conflict between the resources; it is more scientific andreasonable in setting import buffer. Last, paper separately used traditional projectprogress management methods PERT/CPM and critical chain model to plan and analyzethe results.Analysis of example shows that the buffer setting method proposed has highstability and feasibility, at the same time, critical chain schedule management model can effectively shorten the project period and facilitate progress control. Research results ofthis paper enrich theory system of project schedule management, which are of sometheoretical value and practical significance.
