Land is an important resource that human beings should have to live with and depend on, since there are various kinds of mineral resources embedded in land. In China, a primary energy with highest demand, namely coal, is hidden under land. With development of economy in our country, the demand for coal has been increasing gradually, which directly leads to enhanced behaviors of exploit of coal mine, and thus has caused great damage of ecological land. Simultaneously, with improvement of people’s living standard, more and more people begin to shift their attention on environmental quality. Therefore, there exist a sharp contradiction between exploit of coal mine and protection of ecological land, and we people face a dilemma between the two choices. To explore the internal relation between the coal mine and ecological land in our country, this thesis has studied the influential mechanism namely how exploitation of coal mine exert influence on ecological land, and attempted to reveal the inherent relationship between the two. The study can be dived into three steps:firstly, based on the previous research, the definition of ecological land would be given according to the object of the study; secondly, through literature review, on-the-spot investigation and consulting experts, this thesis employs many indexes that relate to both ecological land and coal resource, and then summaries the indexes that are demanded in the study according to the procurability of data; thirdly, by employing SPSS software and using the method of Canonical Correlation Analysis, representative variables are refined from two categories of variables to give a quantitative analysis of the impact that exploitation of coal resource would exert on ecological land, and corresponding conclusion and suggestions would be proposed. Conclusion of this study can be drawn according to empirical analysis as follows:Entropy of information related to land use structure in coal mine area in Wuzhong city has close connection with some factors, including income per capita, proportion of non-coal industries, population, population-education ratio, housing area per capita, quantity of solid waste, mechanization of coal production, utilization of coal gangue and solid waste, green area per capita in coal mine area; composite index of utilization of land in coal mine area in Wuzhong city is closely tight with annual growth rate of income per capita, output-input rate, population-education ratio, output of coal, gangue and solid waste, proportion of environmental protection investment in GDP as well as recycling of solid waste. To maintain ecological land in coal mine area in Wuzhong city, overall plans should be made and all factors should be taken into consideration, including exercising strict control over population, promoting education quality of the residents, enhancing mechanization of exploitation of coal resource, increasing investment in environmental protection, strengthening utilization of gangue and solid waste as well as expanding green area. Associated management mechanism should be established to maintain the balance between coal mine and ecological land; circular economy mode should also be applied into exploitation of coal resource to guarantee the security of ecological land in coal mine area.The8indexes about ecological land and16indexes in aspect of exploit of coal mine can clearly reflect changes of themselves and the influences that they have produced. Besides, canonical correlation analysis of two categories of data can further distinguish the degree of influence that the index of exploit of coal would exert on the index of ecological land, which is helpful to find the primary factors that would influence ecological land and provide valuable information for management of coal mine and ecological land in future.
