The high frame frequency camera with features of intuitive, real-time and informative can collect the test object's movement information (such as position, velocity, acceleration and posture information, etc) through analysis of the image. The information provides the basis for target tracking, real-time monitoring and subsequent experimental analysis and system improvement, so the high frame frequency camera gets widely concerned by the military and scientific researchers in countries all over the world. However, comparing with abroad developed countries, domestic research is still basically in the stage of plan exploration, so it is necessary to study on high speed video collection system for national defense and scientific research.For video recording of instruments panel in cabin and fired state of bombs outside, the key technology of high frame frequency image acquisition was studied and a set of high frame frequency image acquisition and processing system based on CMOS image sensor was designed.An image acquisition system based on FPGA was proposed, using the ideas of modular and integration design and the technologies of color interpolation, line buffering, pipeline, data joining and SDRAM partition storage. These ideas and technologies improved the system's collection and transmission rate effectively.To realize image collection, cache and display, the hardware circuit was designed, using Altera company's CyclonelV series FPGA (EP4CE115) and Cypress Company's CMOS digital image sensor LUPA300. Based on the analysis of system function, the whole system was divided into four parts:CMOS imaging module, FPGA control module, image cache module and VGA display module.The software was designed by using verilog language under Quartusâ…ˇcompile environment and each module was integrated in FPGA. After simulation and validation by Modelsim, the independent modules, including timing driving module, image capture module, image format conversion module. SDRAM controller module and VGA sequential control module, were realized function interconnection through top-level module. The work principle and realization method of each function module was introduced in detailed in this paper.In the end, the system performance test was done, the result certificates that the camera can reach to 155 frames per second in the case of 640Ă—480 resolution,10 bits wide and 50 MHZ clock frequency. The system basicly meets requirement of the high frame frequency image acquisition system and lays a foundation for further design for system that integrates with acquisition, records, transmission and display into one.
